We were so excited when we found out our nanotechnology education non-profit Omni Nano was selected as a finalist for the Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Awards for the second year in a row. The event is widely dubbed the “Oscars of Innovation” and considering hundreds of companies applied and were filtered down to 50 nominees, from which the 12 finalists were selected, we are truly honored to be recognized at the level of finalist.

Founder, Dr. Curreli, got to present what Omni Nano does and how we are innovative at the morning symposium. Everyone who heard our message commended our programs and commented on the importance of our cause to update STEM education. Most of the companies selected as finalists were making impacts using nanotechnology; it is no secret nanotech is the future of innovation.

At the dinner Gala, the winners were announced. Congratulation to Cargomatic, DAQRI, LEHR LLC, Valencia Technologies Corporation, and X-Therma Inc. Dr. Curreli commented, “Honestly, everyone deserved to win. The work of these companies is truly changing how things are done in their respective fields.”

We had many supporters come to the event are very grateful to Bank of the West for sponsoring a breakfast table to include our numerous guests.

We got “second place” but “third time’s a charm…” as one of our guests said at the end of the dinner. We will keep on innovating and spearheading the revolution to change STEM education.
